Born and raised in Sacramento, California.
Went to University of California, Santa Barbara where I majored in English and Philosophy.
While there, wrote a music article and created and edited a poetry section for the Isla Vista arts and culture magazine, WORD. I also contributed stories for the alternative student newspaper, The Bottom Line. In my final year, I did an internship with the Santa Barbara Independent, where I wrote over 30 stories for their award-winning website.
After graduation, I returned to Sacramento to freelance for the Sacramento News & Review. One of my stories, “After the Crash,” was featured as the cover story for their July 23rd, 2009 issue.
In November of 2009, I moved to Colorado to take some time pursuing my biggest hobby: snowboarding. In addition to this and other outdoor activities, I worked in the service industry (mostly as a bartender), and contributed Arts & Entertainment stories for the local daily newspaper, The Summit Daily.
In August, 2011, I moved to New York City to study at Columbia University’s Graduate School of journalism.
